Indianapolis Wing Chun Kuen

A Grassroots Project

WHAT IS THIS ABOUT?

This is simply just a way for me to get some people together to train Wing Chun.

I am looking for people that are interested in training Wing Chun, that share a similar training philosophy and are willing to put the martial art politics aside in order to train to become better athletes and fighters.

As I stated on the home page, I train with a focus on practical application of Wing Chun principles. Simply put, I want to train the core Wing Chun principles, theories and techniques and how they apply to modern fighting and, more importantly, self-defense. Through training you'll come to realize there's a big difference between fighting and self-defense.

I am NOT looking for a "my lineage is right, your lineage is wrong" or a "my Wing Chun is better than your Wing Chun" POINTLESS debate session. In my experience, it's the person training the art/lineage and not the art/lineage itself which is superior.  Don't get me wrong, lineage is important and something to be proud of, but its emphasis should not be placed over the individual.

There are really no places to train Wing Chun or any Wing Chun schools in Indianapolis or the Indianapolis area and I want to try to provide a place and atmosphere to do that. This is a small operation, I workout in my garage. I have a wooden dummy, butterfly swords, sparring gear and various other fitness and training tools. I am just looking to create a group of people that enjoy training Wing Chun.

I would also like to get together with people of other fighting arts and do some heavy sparring. It would be nice to get an ego-free group of sparring partners in contact with one another and meet up periodically to really put our skills to the test.

So, to sum up:

What I want this to be:

A gathering of people who want to train seriously and improve their Wing Chun skils and fighting skills through application, hard sparring and hard work. A place where one can train in Wing Chun without having to cut through the red tape of martial art politics and subculture and become part of a group of serious yet friendly martial artists.

What I DON'T want this to be:

A group of people sitting around and TALKING about how Wing Chun is superior to everything and never DOING any practical application. As the saying goes, "Talk is cheap!"

OR

A group of people arguing over how their Wing Chun lineage and way is the only true way because their sifu was the only TRUE student of Yip Man and therefore, everyone else's Wing Chun is crap.  NOBODY wins a "lineage war".

If you live in Fishers or the Indianapolis area and are interested in training, contact me right away.

This is just an informal gathering of people interested in training. Just come with an open mind!
